Encounters

It is easy to feel separated from the natural environment when you live within an urban landscape, surrounded by concrete and a multitude of buildings. I’ve always been drawn to natural spaces within the city, over time I began to realize that what I was truly searching for was a connection to nature. In these video I take viewers for a journey or rediscovery of the natural environments that are with the within reach. The video explores current natural spaces in Chicago, the vast lakeshore, the lashes foliage, overgrown edges of the Chicago river, lake horizon, water surface slowly flowing, close up imagery of native plants . The viewer encounters spaces and elements that are both real and altered, organic and constructed. I hope to provoke a sense of wonder about what we consider natural. The nature has a unique power to evoke feelings, mesmerize, and pull the viewer in.
